There are three stages of the labyrinth,
the first represents the cycle of purification/releasing, the second is called illumination or receiving, the third is the
union with spirit or the return. They can be remembered by “letting go, letting in, and letting out”.
Standing at the entrance to the labyrinth,
I always advise the seeker to ground. Take a deep breath in through the nose and release it slowly out the mouth, do this
at least 3 times. Walking the path going into the labyrinth, take deep cleansing breaths and open yourself up to purification.
Allow your thoughts to bring what needs to be known or remembered and listen to your feelings, connect with your spirit. As
you remain respectful and nonjudgmental of others, do the same for yourself. Let go of that which needs let go and keep that
which is worth keeping. Know that this is but a journey as you spiral to the center.
The center of the labyrinth is a personal
experience for each person. Some feel the need to meditate, some pray or make an offering, and some may simply reach the center
and immediately begin the walk out. The center is the place to receive; close your eyes, stare at the moon or look for constellations
in the stars but open yourself up to hear what needs to be heard within.
When you are ready, again take a deep
breath in through the nose and releasing it slowly out the mouth. As you walk the spiral out of the labyrinth, know that you
are returning to the mundane world as a more committed, focused and renewed individual. When you reach the end of the labyrinth,
again breathe deeply and ground. Feel the energy that can only manifest in the presence of spirit and walk with renewed confidence.
